Why did Jose Mourinho change his mind on a Chelsea deal?

Chelsea fans have been left stunned by Jose Mourinho’s decision to leave Real Madrid and join Manchester United on a four-year deal worth £150million, with the Portuguese still reportedly considering a move to Chelsea.

The Portuguese club have made it clear they want to make a strong bid for the Chelsea star and have already received a £12m offer from Paris Saint-Germain.

The former Real Madrid boss has long been a favourite of Chelsea’s supporters and the Blues will be hoping that the Spanish giants can persuade him to sign a new deal.

Chelsea are in a position to win the Champions League if they win the Europa League and are also favourites to qualify for the Champions league again this season.

But with Manchester United also interested in the 28-year-old, Mourinho may decide to make an even bigger bid for Chelsea and the former Real president may have given his backing to the English club’s offer.

“The offer from Manchester United is worth £12million,” a source close to the player said.

“But there is an understanding between the two clubs that Jose will leave Real and move to Manchester United, but only if they accept a four year deal worth over £150m.”

Jose Mourinho has not been shy about his admiration of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

United have already made a £55m bid for David de Gea, but Chelsea could be in a stronger position to secure a deal for the Spanish keeper.

Mourinho is understood to have asked the former Manchester United boss to give his backing in the deal to United, although the club have yet to make the offer official.

Sources have told The Daily Telegraph that Chelsea are still in the running to sign De Gea and Mourinho is reportedly ready to make more cash in order to ensure he stays at Stamford Bridge.

In the transfer window of January, the Blues also received a huge offer from Tottenham for Emmanuel Adebayor and a £14m bid from Bayern Munich for David Luiz, but the deal was rejected by the Premier League champions.

Jose will be joined by two other key figures on Mourinho’s Barcelona side in his next job.

Barcelona are currently in the Champions Cup semi-finals and have been looking to land Neymar for months but are now reportedly willing to make another big bid to get the Brazilian forward to the Nou Camp.

A source close in Barcelona said that Neymar is ready to leave and is willing to pay the equivalent of around £70m to sign the player, but that the club is still in talks with the player’s agent and that a decision on a new contract will not be made until the end of the summer transfer window.

If Neymar leaves Barcelona for Barcelona, Mourinho will have made an enormous impact on the club’s history, as the former Chelsea boss has managed to convince the Catalan giants to make yet another massive transfer.
