IBM CEO says company will open $7.5 billion IBM Watson research center in San Jose


IBM will open its first $7 billion Watson research facility in Silicon Valley.

The Watson research program is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The news comes as the technology giant looks to bolster its presence in cloud computing and software development.

The company has also announced it will open a $2.5 million center in South Korea.

IBM will also open a new $2 billion Watson Center in the San Jose area in the third quarter of 2019.

The first facility will be dedicated to machine learning and predictive analytics, IBM said in a statement.
